Founders Morris & Hannah Libman with their son Hillard
Founded in 1929 as Westchester's first day camp, CAMP HILLARD's tradition of excellence spans three generations of single family ownership. The American Camping Association recognizes CAMP HILLARD as a member of Pioneers of Camping for its leadership contributions to the camping movement. Today, CAMP HILLARD continues to be a leader in the industry by blending the concepts developed over the years with new programs and facilities that are experienced by all who attend the camp.
Hillard and Elaine Libman directed the camp from the late 1950's to the early 1990's. Their years of experience are invaluable to the camp’s success and to their sons, Jim and Jon, who now direct the camp year-round. Jim Libman has been a Director since 1991. Jon Libman became a Director in 1994. Kathleen, Jon’s wife, has been the Creative & Performing Arts Director since 1996.
CAMP PHILOSOPHY
Our goal at CAMP HILLARD is to provide a safe, fun, active, and memorable camp experience. CAMP HILLARD is a place where each child feels special and succeeds.
We don't just amuse children. They are learning skills while having fun. This results in creating a lasting interest due to our very personal way of teaching, for the 3, 4 and 5 year old as well as for the 11, 12 and 13 year old.
The variety of activities is the key to enthusiastic and involved campers. Over the years, our experience has enabled us to develop a total program, which is carefully scheduled so that campers have the full benefit of outstanding swimming and sports balanced with high-quality creative and performing arts, specialty activities, as well as exciting special events.
