At Camp Hillard, our campers get the opportunity to experience a variety of exciting creative arts programs. Our Creative Arts programs are led by a talented staff composed of teachers and professionals in the creative arts. Their extensive experience creates a fun-loving, warm environment that allows campers to discover their own creativity and unique style.
This specialty area includes Traditional Arts and Crafts, Jewelry and Bead Making, and Ceramics & Pottery. Our unique programs provide opportunities for campers to create their own individual projects.
Traditional Arts & Crafts include creative crafts, collage, paper-mache,
clay, sculpturing, painting, shell, felt and tile. Older campers are also
involved in cartooning, drawing, and other advanced projects such as leather
crafts, knitting, T-shirt design, woodcrafts, and model projects.
Campers entering 1st grade and older are also scheduled regularly for
Jewelry and Bead Making. Each class campers make a new piece of personalized
jewelry or beads and learn to work with different materials.
Boys and Girls going into 3rd grade and older also can participate in our
Ceramics, Pottery, and Sculpting program. Campers work with different types
of clay, sculpting tools, glazes and paints to create their own
individualized projects which are all fired in our own kiln.
NATURE
Our various animals are a real highlight of the program. Some of the other
nature activities include crafts projects using materials from nature, the
weather station, appreciation of the environment, and collecting and
identifying natural specimens such as trees, flowers, rocks, insects, and
birds.
